There are no restrictions beyond available seats in our classroom, and the continued funding of the program by the State of New York.

Additionally, OSLS offers other Pre-School programs supplementing UPK.

Supplement the Universal Pre-Kindegarten with our half-day and after school programs to augment the day from as early as 7:30 am to as late as 6:00 pm.

Children in the Pre-School are able to read on a first grade level and do some elementary mathematics by the time they graduate from Kindergarten. In addition to the 3 R's, computer aided education, elementary Spanish instruction and music are offered on a regular basis. Field trips, and a Christmas program are but a few of the special events which enrich the experiences of the children.

Academic subjects are taught each morning from 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. Afternoons include a nap time and a story time up to 3:00 p.m. From 3-6 in the afternoon there is a structured recreational time. Children may be picked up by their parents at any time during this after-school session.

For those that need it, early care is available at 7:30 a.m. at a small extra charge. Otherwise, children may be dropped off after 8:00 a.m. for the school day.

A variety of programs for Nursery school are available: five-day, three-day and two-day per week programs may be attended mornings until 11:30 a.m.; all day until 3:00 p.m.; and full day until 6:00 p.m.

Our classrooms are limited to 20 children, and are serviced by a full-time teacher and an aide. Because space is limited, it is offered on a first-come-first served basis, and a waiting list is maintained after the rooms fill up.

Especially for parents of pre-school children, it is comforting to know that their 3-5 year-olds will be loved and cared for by a staff of dedicated professionals. OSLS has been in the community ministering to children for nearly sixty years.

And that is just what we have at OSLS, a beautiful little spot for children to grow in ways new for them.

Safe and secure under the attentive care of our experienced teachers, the children grow in relationships with the others, in communication skills, in singing and art and the skills that go with those, also in simple math concepts and reading readiness, and, of course, in the assurance that Jesus loves them.

All this, and they thought they spent the day playing!
